Open the report
Use Survey - Generate Report to create a printable report for a selected survey period. Set the From and To dates, choose a Location and Zone if required, then click Print report.
The report cover shows the reporting period and high-level totals for survey days, captures and zones. These values frame the rest of the analysis.
Executive summary
The Executive Summary presents the main measures: total captures, unique vehicles, average daily vehicles, sweeps, short-stay percentage, average duration, survey days and average sweep duration.
- Short-Stay Turnover — highlights the percentage of vehicles observed under the short-stay threshold.
- Commuter Detection — identifies vehicles with repeated, longer-stay behaviour.
- Average Duration — summarises observed dwell time across the selected report.
- Daily Variation — compares the busiest and quietest survey days.
- Busiest Zone — identifies the zone with the highest average daily vehicle count.
- Survey Coverage — reports coverage passes and the number of zones represented.
Zone overview
The Zone Overview table compares each zone by survey days, average daily vehicles, peak daily vehicles, average dwell, long-stay percentage, sweeps, average sweep duration, capacity, peak occupancy and pressure.
Pressure labels make capacity issues quick to scan. Oversubscribed zones exceed expected capacity, Healthy zones sit in the usable range, and Underutilised zones are below expected demand.
Occupancy and pressure
Occupancy by time of day plots the selected zones across the day and marks the capacity stress threshold. Use it to see when a zone is likely to become constrained.
Peak occupancy by zone ranks zones by their highest occupancy result. Pressure band distribution groups zones into demand bands so stakeholders can see whether pressure is isolated or widespread.
Dwell and duration
Dwell duration distribution groups observed sessions into stay-length bands, from short visits under five minutes through to long-stay activity over four hours.
Duration by zone shows which zones are dominated by short visits and which zones have a higher share of one-hour, two-hour or long-stay sessions.
Daily vehicles
Daily vehicles by zone stacks zone activity by day. Use this chart to identify unusual spikes, quieter survey days or zones that consistently contribute most of the total.
Methodology and conclusion
The Methodology section explains the report logic, including survey collection, coverage-pass detection, dwell-time calculation, occupancy and capacity rules, pressure bands, vehicle classification, duration distribution, turnover, temporal patterns and key thresholds.
