Cases Configuration
Auto Numbers
Configure automatic numbering for infringements, cases and inspections, including prefixes, separators and starting numbers.
What auto numbers control
Auto Numbers controls the generated IDs used by Infringements, Cases and Inspections. Each number type can use a prefix, separator and numeric sequence so teams can keep records readable and unique.
Unlocking a number format
Use the lock button on a number card to unlock editing. Only users with the required role should change numbering formats, because these settings affect future records.
Prefix length and separators
Set the prefix length from 0–8 characters. A value of 0 removes the prefix. Then choose a separator: None, - or /. Prefix characters can be edited directly in the prefix boxes.
Starting number
Set the starting number before the sequence is in active use. Once records are being generated, the starting number is locked to protect record continuity. The preview shows the Example and Next number before you confirm.
Number types
The same controls apply to each number type:
- Infringements — issued infringement notices on cases.
- Cases — ANPR-auto, manual and inspection-derived cases using one shared sequence.
- Inspections — inspections created from a form in the cases service.
